Emilio Sioli is a creative producer and organizer of concerts, theatre and live shows.
He has been working in the show business for almost 30 years.
He graduated as an actor in 1983 at Accademia dei Filodrammatici of Milano, one of the oldest Drama Schools in Italy. After 15 years of working in organizations and companies such as Teatro Stabile di Parma, Teatro di Porta Romana, TEATRIDITHALIA Elfo Portaromana Associati, Associazione Milano Festival/Teatro Smeraldo, Agr Associati, Teatro Franco Parenti and Fondazione Arcadia, first as an actor and later as organizer and producer, he decided to go on working as private producer and manager. In 2000 he founded Associazione delle Arti e delle Corti and he immediately started to project and organize everything concerning jazz music and live shows.
Since 2006 his activity concerns the direction and organization of IL RITMO DELLE CITTà Jazz Festival in Milan.
The aim of IL RITMO DELLE CITTà is to describe the rhythm of a “small” megalopolis with 1,300,000 inhabitants like Milan. Universities, churches, gardens, farmhouses, theatres, ancient “villas”, buildings of public utility, located in the suburbs of the town, abandon their original function for one night, becoming the venues of the Festival. The sum of these particular sounds is the jazz of Milan. All these places will be reinvented only for jazz concerts and each of them represent the residents’ community of the nine areas in which Milan is currently divided.
Until 2013, IL RITMO DELLE CITTà Festival will be realized by a cultural network formed by 8 partners from Milan and Lombardy:
● Associazione Arti e Corti of Milan
● Associazione Musica Oggi of Milan
● Associazione Scena Aperta Alto Milanese Teatri of Legnano (Mi)
● Associazione Bollate Jazz Meeting of Bollate (MI)
● Town council of Magenta
● Associazione Centro Didattico di Produzione Musica of Bergamo
● Associazione Tetracordo of Stradella (Pv)
● Associazione Fortemente of Ponte in Valtellina (So)
The Festival in Milan is, principally, fulfilled with the aid of the Town Council of Milan, Fondazione CARIPLO, Politecnico di Milano and Regione Lombardia. Since 2012, the Festival has been receiving the support from the Italian Ministry of Heritage and Cultural Activities.
In the 6th edition, the Festival programmed many important musicians and groups like Airto Moreira, Tania Maria, Wayne Shorter, The Manhattan Transfer, Brad Mehldau, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Kenny Barron, Regina Carter, Antonella Ruggiero, Han Bennink, Enrico Intra & Enzo Jannacci, Franco Cerri, Roberto Vecchioni, Paolo Fresu & Uri Caine, Enrico Rava, Trilok Gurtu, Fabrizio Bosso Quartet and many more.
Since 2012, its 6th edition, the Festival is much more oriented to the European language of jazz music, starting to program representative groups from abroad, actually from Scandinavia like Ola Kvernberg Trio from Norway and Jukka Eskola Quintet from Finland, planning cultural exchanges with some of the most important festivals of that area as Bergen Nattjazz (Nor) and April Jazz Espoo (Fin). The aim of this collaboration is to establish, from 2014, a true new cultural network in Europe with the aid of the European Commission dedicated to the production of jazz music concerts.
