The Drummers Battle
Drummers battle is event inspired by the peaceful and rousing impromptu meetings among celebrities like Buddy Rich and Max Roach, to recall the most famous – but differs in substance because they want to exploit once and for all the potential harmonic of the battery.
In this concert, two drummers “face to face” will fight to the tune of their favourites pieces. The show will be a conversation between two musicians, a meeting between two men who will provide each other their feelings, their research, their technical background.
Not a circus performance – certainly there will reign fantasy and ductility of the musicians involved – but in unmissable opportunity to discover the sounds of drums, whose expression has nothing to envy to the piano which, on the other hand, is a distant relative.
The Show
Tony Arco, well know drummer in the national jazz scene, “faces” a guest drummer known for the different style and recognizable joined on stage by JW Orchestra conducted by Marco Gotti.
The executions do not follow the historical evolution of the canvas as a tool, but its inspiration energy, addressing freewheeling songs like “Night in Tunisia” and “Salt Peanuts” by Dizzye Gillespie, “Sing Sing With a Swing” brought to success by the binomial Goodman and Krupa, “Afro Blue” by Mongo Santamaria and McCoy Tyner, “Nica’s Dream” by Oscar Peterson from Horace Silver and the famous “Cute”, famous for the performances of Dexter Gordon.
A bloodless, spectacular and, above all, harmonious battle.
